Just noticed someone posted a link to my journal in Eye Scene. Wow I guess someone noticed! it has been very quiet here still I enjoy posting and viewing my friends pages.

Here is a story about my last pair of glasses.

I bought what I thought are designer frames in Asia. I
now believe they are knock-offs or fakes. They bend easily and the nose
pads and temples are changing colour. When I got back from Asia I went
to an optometrist for an eye exam. I complained that I could not see
close up and distance was also blurry. My Rx turned out to be -8.25,
-3.00 +2.00 both eyes. I used a pair of semi rimless frames I had bought over seas and them put in 1.7 index progressive lenses in them. After a number of weeks I got the
glasses but could still not see properly. The 1.7 index caused a lot of
distortion and the add power was not strong enough. I could only see
close up if I looked through the very bottom edge of the lens. I set up
another appointment with the Doctor and she was not happy to see me.
After measuring my eyes again she said that the glasses were fine. She
refused to give me more add power saying that my eyes would lose its natural ability
to focus up close. I told her I needed to be able to see close up to do my work properly and that was the bottom line!

I tested my own eyes at home using a trial lens set and faked a prescription. The store refunded my money for the old glasses. I ordered a new pair with 1.6 index Transition lenses, bumped up the Rx in the right eye and gave myself +2.75 diopters of add. The glasses came in. There was quite a bit of lens thickness but I can see better distant and close up. I like the vision through the Transition lenses and the distortion is less. My high cylinder makes it difficult to see properly.

These glasses should do me for another 6 months then I'll need another eye exam.

Back from the USA

I just got back from Montana. Had a few decent sighting of girls with glasses, mostly older women but a few better looking younger girls. Was quite surprised to see the the number of people wearing old fashioned out-dated round and oval glasses. Then again the residents were not exactly fashion conscious. Lots of sweat pants and baggy sweat shirts. Still the people were very nice and polite. I am sure if I went down town to the business district during the week it would be a different reality.

GWG at the Bus Stop

What a wonderful sighting! a beautiful woman in her fourties wearing significant Rx maybe -14 getting on the bus. Her frames were of an older style round, demi-amber but very nice. I could see from a distance even with my weak eyes, that the lenses pushed through the front and back of the frames. I wish that she traveled on my bus maybe then I could have a chance to talk to her.

What a beautiful woman with such fascinating frames!

Asian GWG

There is this Asian gwg that I see regularly at work. She wears contact lenses about 50% of the time. Her frames that are small, black, and metal because her Rx is so high. I'm guessing around -13 diopters. Even with the 1.7 high-index lenses there is substantial edge thickness. She is thin and very attractive and looks better with glasses than without. I don't find her personality to be great, her manor is to the point. Here is another one that just became engaged. Sigh...I wish it was me.

Attended my first Con-Ed class last night and was pleasantly surprised to see most of the students were women and a good portion of them wore glasses. To my delight I sat behind a pretty girl in her 20's with small light green plastic frames. I could tell she was a high myope by the power of her lenses. Even though they were high-index lenses I could see that some of the edge thickness poked through the front of the frames. Wow what a sighting! We split into groups and I wanted to talk to her but never got the chance. Looking at the her ring I could see that she was probably married. I tried not to be obvious or stare but she was so beautiful!

Wow if you girls want to be more attractive, skip the lasik, give up contacts and wear those glasses!

Another reason for wearing glasses!

Discovered another good reason to wear glasses, they make great bug protectors! Went for a bike ride tonight and the aphids were really bad. Everyone not wearing glasses got an eye full of bugs, but not me! The glasses perform perfectly as a bug shield.

Have noticed lately that my vision is changing. Thing are just not as clear as they used to be. Using my trial lens set I discovered that I could easily take another -0.25 diopter. My near vision has also suffered. New glasses will have to wait for another 6 months though, changing lenses twice a year is too much.

I guess my principal motivation for setting up an account with LiveJournal was to connect with like minded people. Eventually it would be nice to network with a couple of people and really get to know them (especially Canadians) who share the same interest as me, an attraction to glasses.

It really sucks when you have this powerful urge inside you and there is no one around who understands and nobody you can talk to. It would be easy if I had a foot fetish or something. God there has got to be thousands of people out there with a foot fetish! But a glasses fetish, how many people are there like that? Maybe hundreds in North America. That's why it is so difficult to connect with people like me who love glasses.

So come on all you spec. loving people, send me a note and tell me that I am not alone!

My Story

I guess for me this attraction thing started after I got my first pair of glasses when I was eight years old. I was very shy and insecure at this time and not doing very well in school. One reason for this was I could not see the black board in class. I knew I needed glasses but did not know if my ego could take another hit. Eventually I got caught, the school nurse asked me to perform an eye test which I failed miserably and I was sent home with a note for my parents.

My mother took me to the optometrist and after testing me was shocked to find out that I had not worn glasses before. My vision was already quite bad. A week latter we picked up my new glasses and I could not believe how clear the world looked. Everything was so brilliant, I could read signs from a distance and see birds and detail I could not imagine.

It took me a week to get used to these new glasses. A first I only put them on when I had to see the black board or when no one I knew was around. Then I said screw-it and started to wear them all the time. My classmates did not tease me too much even though these glasses looked kind of thick on the sides. I began to get kind of excited when I wore them, it was like the lenses had a power over me!

I started to notice people around me who wore glasses especially the girls. Soon I had a priority list of what made a woman attractive and glasses were right at the top. Also I started to notice that I liked girls who wore plastic frames better. The girl had to be myopic and the more myopic the better. There was something about those lenses which stuck out the back of her frame and those small eyes and the concentric rings and the way the light danced off the surface of the lenses.

Soon I started to collect my own pairs of glasses. Faking prescriptions to get stronger and stronger lenses, I experimented with wearing plus contact lenses under powerful glasses a technique call GOC (glasses over contacts). By this time my eyes had gotten progressively worse. I was a -8.5 diopters with -3.0 diopters of astigmatism. I wore contact lenses for many years also until my near vision started to go and my eyes became very dry. It reached a point where contact lenses were just too painful to wear so I switched to glasses 100% of the time.
